The single most important thing to do when asking donors to contribute is ensuring they are including your initiative's name in the transaction.
💡 If your donation is a direct donation (not done via a Donor Advised Fund or DAF) please email us with your details (email address, name to appear on the donation, and donor address if donation is >$5,000) so we can issue the appropriate tax-deductible receipt.
💡 Please remember to include the name of the initiative in the 'Additional Information' Field when you make a bank transfer. This will significantly shorten the time it takes for your financial contribution to reach the initiative.
💡 Should you have the option of sending an email notification for the transaction, please send it to host+c3@opencollective.org
💡 Remember that different methods of donating will incur different fees. (For the lowest fees, ask for donations via our site, card, or PayPal).
Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Once received we will issue a receipt that certifies that you have made this contribution as a charitable contribution and you are not receiving any goods or services in return.

Please note: Checks may take a few weeks to process and arrive into a specific initiative. Please opt for bank transfer where possible - it will be a much quicker turnaround.
Each DAF handles things differently, some have more customization options that others. That’s why it’s important to select a DAF carefully.
You will need to communicate directly with your DAF to see what their processes are.
Some DAFs will do wire transfers (this is much faster) and some will only mail checks. Regardless of the method, they need to include your initiative's name in the donation.
The tax deductible receipt will be made out to the DAF.
